The TWIN CAM 88® years were from 1999 until TODAY.

As several American motorcycle manufacturers tried to surface and re-surface in the industry, Harley-Davidson® introduced the most revolutionary engine yet. The Twin Cam 88® gets it's name from the two cams versus one cam in all it's ancestors. The Twin Cam 88 engine also goes by the the nickname "Fathead" for just exactly that, bigger heads.
