THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON® FLATHEAD® ENGINE

The FLATHEAD® years were from 1909 until 1936.

This engine design earned the name of "Flathead" because of the obviously flat vented tops at the top of each cylinder head. The flathead was the engine that became famous as it led Harley-Davidson® to many victories in the motorcycle races of the twenties.
