THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON® EVOLUTION® ENGINE

The EVOLUTION® years were from 1983 until TODAY.

Harley® made another engine design change in 1984 on the heels of a bold employee buyout of AMF®. The motorcycle company went public and introduced the now famous redesign of the V-Twin® called the Evolution®. This radical new design utilized styled square blocks to house the valves. This motor, revered as the Evolution® engine is known amongst Harley® enthusiasts as "the Blockhead".
